Back by Popular Demand...First Aid for Your Best Friend

Would you know what to do if your dog was choking, or had a cut on her pad? Every dog owner should have a basic understanding of pet first aid and fortunately, Northwest Veterinary Specialists will be providing another FREE "First Aid for Your Best Friend" class at the REI in Clackamas on Sept 26. The class will include a CPR and bandaging demo/lab as well as an open forum for questions. They will discuss common emergencies including heat stroke, bloat, and brachycephalic airway syndrome as well as the 5 most frequent toxicities that they see in the ER. Waggy Hour - Pinot Pageantry

Wine and dogs - what could be better? Join LexiDog Boutique & Social Club and the Oregon Humane Society for Waggy Hour at the trendy Jupiter Hotel this Wednesday (8/25) from 6-8pm. This month's Waggy Hour features a doggie pageant. Join in the fun by entering your dog in the contest to show off their natural beauty and best trick or talent. 9th Annual Multnomah Days Dog Wash

The Multnomah Days Dog Wash is happening this Saturday, Aug 21 at the Lucky Lab Public House in Multnomah Village. It starts with a fun community parade and ends with a dog wash to benefit the DoveLewis blood bank! Even if you can't make it to the parade, there will be dog washing teams on standby to scrub your dirty pooch. Suggested donation of $10.00 per dog washed. Free Pet Festival at The Dog Club of West Linn

The Dog Club of West Linn is hosting a Free Pet Festival this Saturday, August 14 from 10:00 - 3:00pm. Families are encouraged to bring their pets and celebrate all things pet. 3rd Annual Doodle Dog Day at Mt. Tabor Park

The third annual Doodle Dog Day will be held this Thursday, August 5th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Picnic Area B, on the northeast side of Mt Tabor Park. All Doodles are welcome. A $5.00 donation is suggested that will go towards the construction of an informational kiosk in the Mt Tabor Park Off-Leash Area. Bring your Doodle and a snack to share. [Aug 2, 2010] 

3rd Annual Ruckus Run

This Saturday, 7/24, is the Third Annual Ruckus Run -- a fun-filled motorcycle (and auto) poker-run benefiting Cascade Bulldog Rescue and Rehome. The run begins at Beaverton Honda, and proceeds over a pre-determined course that takes you through the beautiful Portland city-scape. Five designated stops along the way will give you your full poker hand. Pay-outs given for high hand, low hand and mileage guess. There will also be a raffle with prizes. The run will end back at Beaverton Honda for a BBQ with entertainment and fun things for the whole family (including your pets!). A great day of fun for the whole family! [July 22, 2010]

Dog Movie "SNIFF" in Weeklong Run at Clinton Street Theater

Sniff opens the door to a new genre of film -- a serious documentary wrapped in a fictional comedic story. Two British actors, hired to be the dress-up concierges of a high-end San Francisco dog hotel, decide to use the opportunity of their year-long contract to fulfill a dream and make a documentary about dogs. The trouble is, they're not quite making the same film. Sniff is peppered with fascinating bits of science and dog lore, intended to deepen our appreciation for these extraordinary creatures. It's a Dogs World at the Multnomah County Fair

The Multnomah County Fair is happening this weekend and it's chock full of doggy events. Swing on by Oaks Amusement Park this weekend (5/29 - 5/31) with your pooch a take part in one of the many, many doggy activities. Festivities include: Dog Agility and Flyball; X-treme Air Dogs Dock Jumping Competition; Doggy Dress Up Day, Pet Fashion Show, Pet Psychics, to name a few. 10th Annual Pug Crawl

The Portland tradition continues on Sunday, May 23rd when a parade of costumed pugs take to the streets for the country's largest gathering of pugs. The popular Portland event raises funds for the Oregon Humane Society and gives hundreds of pugs (and their owners) a chance to enjoy food, microbrews and live music while watching the annual Parade of Pugs outside of MacTarnahan's Taproom in Northwest Portland. This year's theme is "Pug-a-licious", with costume contestants encouraged to dress their pugs in the spirit of the theme. The parade is open to all costumed pugs, with special prizes for the winner. Doggie Dash 2010!!

It's that time of year again...time to lace up your running shoes, grab your pooch, and head down to the Waterfront this Saturday (5/15) for the 23rd Annual Doggie Dash. Voted Portland's favorite pet event "by a landslide", Doggie Dash is the best place in the Northwest to have fun with your four-legged friends and help animals in need. The event includes: Fun run/walk for people with or without their dogs; Blocks-long pet festival with contests, vendors, music, and more; Pancake breakfast for all runners and walkers. Mother's Day Fundraiser hosted by Other Mothers

Other Mothers Animal Rescue will be hosting a Mother's Day fundraiser luncheon at the Mark Spencer Hotel this Saturday, May 8. The event will be open to the public and tickets are $25 per person. All proceeds will go toward the care of rescued dog and cat "mothers" and their young. In addition to a sumptuous vegetarian feast, the lunch will include an animal psychic, special guest speakers, professional photographer, and fabulous prizes to give away. Celebrate Earth Day with the Earth Advantage Earth Day Run this Saturday (4/24). The run is dog-friendly, and focused around people, healthy lifestyle living, community, and of course, the planet. The event starts and finishes at the Earth Advantage National Center in Tigard, OR.
